INFORMATION FOR OUR VISITORS 

Airports
Kenya has four main International Airports namely:

  • Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (on the outskirts of Nairobi City )
  • Moi International Airport   (in Mombasa Town at the coast)
  • Malindi International Airport  ( in Malindi Town on the Indian Ocean coast)
  • Eldoret International Airport   (Near Eldoret town in Rift Valley Province)
Sea Ports
Kenya has one major port at Mombasa at the Coast on the Indian Ocean. It serves many of the East African countries which are landlocked. Among these countries are Uganda, Rwanda , The Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) and Burundi.

How to get to the Kenya Meteorological Department

On arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you can take one of the many available taxis. Inform the driver to take you to Kenya Meteorological Department Headquartersat Dagoretti Corner on Ngong Road. The journey should take about 30 minutes if you bypass the city centre.

Our Headquarters
From the Gate the first building on your right is the main administration block. In this building we have the
Office of the Director , the Regional Telecommunication Hub, the National Meteorological Centre (NMC), , and many other small units. If you move straight ahead from the gate without turning to the administration block, you will reach the Institute for Meteorological Research and Training (IMTR). Here there are also such  units like the, the Library and the Hostel.  The Drought Monitoring Centre is also housed in this building.
