If you are interested in putting up a weather station, the Meteorological Department can provide you with the necessary technical expertise required. However weather instruments can be bought at the equipment's shops in the market. It is necessary to register your station with the Kenya Meteorological Department to ensure that your station is listed on the national meteorological observation network. This will help you be able to compare and share your data with that from more than 2000 meteorological stations on the national network.
The instruments listed below can be available at the Meteorological Department on request :
- Stevenson screen
- Rain gauge
- Evaporation pan

You will however be required to meet the basic cost of the material necessary to make the instrument. Other types of instruments are available at equipment's shops in the market.
