NAIROBI WINDS
The wind near the ground is very predominantly easterly throughout the year, generally between north-east and east from October to April, and between east and south-east from May to September. The strongest winds occur during the dry season just prior to the "Long Rains" when speeds of 20 to 25 m.p.h. are not uncommon from mid-morning to early afternoon; at other times of the year winds speeds are usually 10 to 15 m.p.h. During the night the wind is usually light. In the squalls sometimes associated with thunderstorms, short-lived of up to 70 m.p.h. have been known to occur.
