Being some 250 miles from the sea, Nairobi does not experience the rather unpleasant humid heat which is so characteristic of tropical coastal towns, although there is a very marked daily range of relative humidity. In the early mornings the air is frequently at or very close to saturation, but in the afternoons the humidity is usually about 50% and may fall as low as 10% on clear sunny days in February and March.
