The Meteorological Department provides meteorological services to the
Aviation fraternity for aircraft operation at the National Airports and
for aircraft enroute navigation worldwide. The Meteorological Office is
one of the Regional Area Forecast Centres appointed by the International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) through the Kenya Government, providing
global forecasts of upper winds and temperatures for all flights throughout
the region of authority.
The Regional Area forecast Centre provides low-level forecasts for aviation
over the Eastern and Southern Africa Region and offshore waters. A basic
service provides information to enable all pilots, whether flying for pleasure
or for commercial benefit, to self-brief before take off.
